Third Annual Cleveland GiveCamp Provides More Than $600,000 in Free Development Work to NonProfits

CLEVELAND, OH (July, 22 2012) – The Third Annual Cleveland GiveCamp wrapped up Sunday night, July 22 with 25 nonprofit organizations benefitting from technology applications valued at nearly $625,000.

Nearly 200 software and database developers, coders, business analysts, graphic designers, marketing professionals, copy writers, video producers, photographers, social media experts and food service volunteers donated more than 5,000 hours throughout the weekend, often working into the wee hours of the night to make these projects possible.

Cleveland GiveCamp is entirely volunteer-driven, even the eight member committee which works throughout the year to plan the event, raise sponsorship dollars, recruit volunteers and coordinate event details. Volunteers represent dozens of companies throughout northeast Ohio, are current students at area universities, and even attend some of the area high schools in the region.

Event highlights:

Twenty five (25) projects were completed over the course of the weekend. The projects include:

  • 5 database applications to help with case management, donor management, client services
  • 2 iPhone apps
  • 12 websites
  • 6 projects which included a combination of web/data applications

More than 225 people participated in the event including:

  • 200 volunteers
  • Representatives from 25 nonprofits

Our volunteers have more than 1,000 years of combined experience in their respective fields.

  • Nearly 800 years of experience on the technical side
  • Nearly 300 years from other specialties (marketing, PR, social media, graphic design, etc.)

Our sponsors donated more than $14,000 in goods and services to make the event possible. They are:

GiveCamp is an international initiative started in 2007 to bring together technology talent to help local nonprofits in need. Cleveland GiveCamp is one of the largest events in the country, helping 43 nonprofits and donating more than $750,000 free help in its first two years. Since its inception in 2007, the GiveCamps have helped more than 150 charities in 30 cities.

The 2013 Cleveland GiveCamp is tentatively scheduled for July 19-21..
